Yellowcarpet

First appearance: late January, early February.
Habitat: wallows and vernal marshes.
This tiny yellow flower appears in such masses that it gives the ground the appearance of being covered with a yellow carpet. It is one of the earliest blooming spring wildflowers. The yellow rays have bronze backs and close at night and on cloudy days.
